All dressed up for our first trip to church. We took a taxi to the office building where the LDS Church is held in Guangzhou. The Branch was delightful. We felt very welcome and at home. It was a wonderful experience!

We got into Guangzhou yesterday, and the White Swan Hotel is beautiful! It over looks the Pearl River. Large barges move up and down the river. The temperature is hot and humid. We haven't gotten sick yet. The hotel service is very good... people being helpful...They are all very nice. Sophi sleeps well at night, but is a very busy child when she is awake. She wants to play all of the time. She laughs all of the time and is very fun.. She also knows how to cry loud. Today we went to church. The meeting was mostly Americans and some Chinese. The Chinese Branch President is Chinese and greeted us warmly. The meetings were great.. Many of the Americans are teachers at the local universities. The communications with people is always fun and challenging. Today we had a good laugh with the cab driver.. We mixed Mandarin, Cantonese and English. It was a blast and a very good laugh.

Glad you made it! You're almost home! Sophi is darling. We loved the light show at night on the river that you can see from the park next to the White Swan. We hope you enjoy the shopping. Jennifer's Place has a great deal on squeaky shoes. I think about $3.00 dollars. I have been thinking about how great it would be to have your hubby speak the language. At least I thought he did. I am so glad you got to go to church! When you get home we want all the details.
